Often the best things show when unexpected. You have to love those moments.

This happened because the subject was close and the background far, far away. With small highlights from the sun on the water. One of the ways to get bokeh. Nice shot!

Agreed. I went and read about this specific lens however, and found multiple reviewers that completed the bokeh and remarked on how good it could be. The thing that threw me off is that this want shot wide open, I didn't expect quite so round a shape in the highlights.

100mm will give bokeh often where you wouldn't expect it.

Totally agree. But the shape is where I was thrown a bit. It is rounder than expected.

Sometimes I shoot just for the bokeh. This is great, I assume from background water.

Yes the water there is insane - it flows with a massive current. They require Personal Floatation Devices (life jackets) if you do anything in that section. The flow is quite fierce so there is a lot of white water.

It creates really dazzling patterns. I guess you might want a life jacket for your camera too!

I was safe about 5 feet from the water - and I can swim. But the camera would have been lost - no attempt to save it would be made by me. It was a GX-1 panasonic with a 45-175 f4-5.6 - nothing I would want to lose but also nothing I couldn't lose.

Even if it was a Hasselblad it's not worth risking that water to save. But I'm glad you and the camera were safe, and you captured such a mesmerizing image. Shouldn't this have been taken by a Pentax???!
