Yes, watching the birds in this pond, I realized that formation is one the first things the young learn - sort of like being in an army or band.

One of the stories in our family goes back 25 years to when our daughter was young. Some dumb goose had made her nest just off the river walk, so when I and my young daughter approached, the goose ran towards us squawking and waving her wings. "She's just trying to scare us to protect her children, just I will protect you" I told my daughter. "It's working" was her response.
