Probably from the old Norad base shut down when over the horizon radar replaced the DEW line.

How many countries had a moose on the tail of their aircraft?

During the Cold War it was quite often these guys were scrambled to intercept Soviet bombers approaching our borders. Since those bombers were almost certainly headed towards the U.S., Canadians often wondered "Shouldn't the Americans be paying fo this?" After all, what was there to bomb in Canada?

Now you have an American president calling us defence freeloaders, but we know who the freeloaders are.

I keep thinking I'll get back there some day. It was at least 30 years ago I went.

For sure, from back in the day when countries made their own aircraft. These days it is about being NATO compatible.

Thanks for commenting.
I know the DFA* 50 1.4 is better, but you have to be really picky before a DA* isn't good enough. I did buy a third party lens hood a bit smaller and wider than the APS_c hood that comes with the 55.

I would hope the new DFA lens is faster focusing (my only real beef with the Da* 55mm)...I recently bought a FA 43mm f1.9 Limited to "maybe" replace the 55mm as it's a lot smaller/lighter for travel.

It's reputed to have 7 times the torque, however, it's also 910 grams vs. 375 grams. It's going to need a lot of that extra torque to get the much heavier focusing elements moving.

Wonderful series Norm. Wonderful angles makes it very interesting and impressive. Uhmmm, well, just be happy he is not your president. So sad about that, since I have always had the highest regard for our friends and neighbors to the north. (
