action sports soccer

Some photos of my boys playing their first game. Some of best shots of the year for me. My new Pentax 55-300 works much better with the K10D than my manual focus lens (Tokina 80-200 f2.8). Still tough sport to get good photos as I left my daughter out of post as I just can't get a good shot. no PP

Totally agree with you about trying to capture a good shot at my kids playing soccer but you know what they say practice practice and more .....

The easiest sport for me has been base/softball but then ALL sports have their quirks and....

Mel and I think Rob have been quite successfull with this sport in particularly,

Thanks for the shout-out JC. Indeed soccer is fun but tough to shoot. Especially with the older children since their field is quite large a distance to cover. The above samples represent a good start, but I'm sure with more practice you'll get even better. Just for C&C sake though, what are your EXIF stats on these samples, and what time of day/night are these games taking place?

Here's one of mine - reduced quality obviously - from the season ender in July. K10D with FA*200mm.

Thanks all. game time was 9:30 am, so I was able to shoot at 500-1000 f5.8-8 ISO 200. What a cute guy you got there Rob. Such a vast difference from my crew. My daughter, who is playing varsity soccer this fall is the biggest challenge as her games are under the lights. And yes practice practice practice I think I have over 1000 shots of soccer through this past summer all with my manual focus Tokina

Thanks for the mention JC. I stay away for a couple days processing a theatre shoot and the board is out of control!
