Hungry Egret Succeeds
Lens: DA 55-300 PLM Camera: KP Photo Location: Back Cove Portland, ME ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/800s Aperture: F9

At 260mm with my PLM. First image is pre-strike then visible success at snatching a little fish from the shallows of Back Cove, Portland , Maine.

Thanks Tony! only 20 yards from the Interstate offramp when I took these. They have adapted to the noise and don't freak out when you get within 30 or 40 yards when they are hunting.

It is like each vertebrae leaves a distinct boundary in the neck. I like watching them fish though. They are much more successful on a per strike basis than most birds of prey going after animals in the fields or woods.
