Milky Way slowly setting in the West
Lens: Samyang 16mm F2 Camera: K-50 Photo Location: Harrington, QC ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F2

Pentax K-50, Samyang 16 mm F2 @ f/2.0, 60 s iso 800.

This turned out pretty well. How long was your exposure? I need to try this feature some more.

Thanks, 60 s was the exposure. Could go much longer but the trees would be too blurry.

The trick here is to shoot the scene twice: an astrotracer exposure for the stars, and a second exposure for the foreground. Then bring both exposures in as layers and composite them by masking out the bits you don't want. (I say this like I know what I'm doing, but I haven't tried it before!)

The best lens for starscapes on APS-C by far imho.

I'm too lazy to do that on such a complex tree line! I usually just copy the foreground into the star shot. The refine edge tool does wonder at selecting the finer details. I should have backed up and take a picture of the starfield only and then come back for a fixed shot of the trees.
