Thousand year old High Cross
Lens: XC 16-50 OIS Camera: Fujifilm X-E1 Photo Location: Monasterboice, Ireland
Posted By: Mark_McKeever, 10-07-2018, 04:05 AM

The ruins of an old monastic settlement which was founded in the 6th century and abandoned in the early 12th century. There are three of these high crosses in the site, as well as the remains of a round tower. The carvings on the crosses are representations of bible stories.
A fascinating place, and the site is still used as a cemetery to this day.

The clouds add to this view, as does your decision to go B&W.

interesting angle - grave's eye view perhaps. Lovely detail and helped by a great sky.
