Night shot: how to post process?
Posted By: jamonation, 09-24-2008, 01:35 PM

Waited until most people's classes were done last night and tried some night photography for the first time on campus. Long exposures are great when people cross the frame since they don't show up at all for the most part. There are some people on the steps that didn't move for this photo either, got lucky there.

Curious how people would post-process this image, it hasn't been touched at all except to convert to jpeg in the Pentax software. I really don't spend as much time post-processing as I could or should so cc would be much appreciated.

I like the image the way it is, only thing I suggest is to boost exposure during PP with Photoshop or Pentax Laboratory. The darkness in the image has bit ghostly feel.

Here's a take. a few minutes in Gimp, painted masks, and curves. Just wanted to open it up a little. Nothing special. I like the photo - the people on the steps are what make the photo for me.

Wow, yeah I really like that with the sky and grass showing some colour, didn't realize how much was still in the jpeg, will have to go back to the raw and take another look now, thanks!
