Cool! The bit you experienced would have swept further south perhaps through Melbourne. I'd like to see a decent thunderstorm! In northern NSW I saw a thunderhead which produced a lightning bolt which went horizontally and dissipated in the atmosphere. I saw another that looked like a globe filled with a living creature made of light. Wish I had the cameras I own now back then!
