Quite a building, somewhat intricate construction and design. The hand of craftsmen is evident. This was not a building that was slapped together.

Wonder when this building was built and the history, which I'm sure is interesting ?

I like your composition. I've returned a few times to look once again at this photograph.

I'm watching "The Haunting of Hill House" on Netflix and all I can think right now is that I wouldn't get too close to an abandoned mental hospital.

But, it's a nice photo.

This building was constructed in 1870-1871 years. In Saint Petersburg. The next building (with the close style architecture)

is day-time hospital now and still works.

The hospital was financed by Alexander III Emperor of Russia.

This mental hospital is one of the oldest in Russia (the oldest one was founded in Moscow in 1792)
and one of the biggest in modern Russia.
It has old (1900-1904) and new stone buildings.

This is very interesting looking building. The old mental hospitals I'm aware of in the U.S. are rather ugly, plain structures.

It was building for quiet patients of the common people. This house is the national historic landmark of Saint Petersburg and it will be renovated. I hope.
