River Oich

I quite like this shot of the River Oich, and of what I presume is an old bridge support.

Yes, this is a lovely view - especially the way you caught the sun.

It's the last remaining pier of the old railway bridge (The Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway) over the River Oich. The last passenger services finished on 1 December 1933, after that "a coal train used to run on Saturdays", that's a real Highland way of phrasing things.

In WW2 there was a platform at Fort Augustus serving the Royal Naval Armaments Depot (RNAD). The line closed completely on 1 January 1947.
