Very nice capture! Well done. I love his pose and the fluffed up head feathers.

No offense, but it looks like a Great Blue Heron.

Excellent shot, but I do agree with above; it looks more like a Great Blue Heron than a Green Heron.

Cheers

You guys could be right, I wasn't sure if it was green or great blue heron. Thanks!

Green? Blue? Great shot anyway. It's not an Australian heron so I don't know which it is.

The Green Heron actually does have somewhat different coloring, and from what I have scene is usually smaller, but of course they do look similar in ways, being members of the Heron family.

This bird is different than the typical great blue heron as he has only one leg!! Where is the other leg? Can't find it! Great shot - still on my bucket list - a great heron shot!

The other leg is most likely raised. I see seagulls do that too. Makes for an interesting circumstance of a shot.

I decided to look it up since this bird didn't look like the Blue Heron's that I have photographed. It is actually an immature Blue Heron. The dark top of the beak gives it away from the photos I saw. I have Green Herons that nest in one of my oak trees. They are a very small heron that is less than 2 feet tall. I have to say it again, I really like your photo!
