American Panoramas
Posted By: alchemy, 09-25-2008, 06:21 PM

Here are some panoramas from my trip through the United States in May. Most of them are made out of random photos, not meant to be put together when I was shooting, but I took so many photos that I was actually capable of obtaining good results (at least in my opinion)

Daytona Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL):

Central Park (New York City):

Dead Indian Hill Summit (Wyoming, not far from the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park):

Monument Valley (Utah):

No need to say that my favourite is the last one... a breathless sight I will never forget!

I like the Monument Valley one as well. I was there a few years ago in late April and actually met a couple from Italy (Florence).

What stitching tool do you use? It does a wonderful job. Also, what focal length were most of the shots taken at? I am never sure what focal length to use for panos.

The software I used to put together this panos is ArcSoft Panorama Maker... I noticed that when it works in automatic mode it does a really great job, but if it doesn't recognize the right stitching path it's very hard to correct it in manual mode

About the focal length, as I stated these are mostly random shots, and that means I wasn't caring too much about what focal length I was using or stuff like this, just I wanted to take the picture as I felt in that moment... anyways, the EXIF data for the photos tell me they were all taken at my lenses minimal focal length: 18mm.

Thanks! The information was very helpful. The ArcSoft product seems to do a very good job.
