very impressive! What do they live on up there? Do they farm, or do they herd? How about water?
pretty harsh environment!
Great shot!

)Nice shot of an interesting scene. (That patch of light on the village demonstrates your mastery of flash )

That's sublime--easily one of the best landscapes I've seen here on PF.

Exactly! And it's a great demonstration of the reason that so many K3ii and K1 users keep saying how much they miss the pop-up flash, so handy and easy for places like mountains!

An inspirational image, dramatic and beautiful at the same time.

Thanks pichaser, indeed riding up any valley takes a week, not a day as in the Alps...

Thanks François ! Yes they cultivate mainly barley and do have some animals (cows, horses and yacks in the upper valleys). I did not feel that water was a major problem, although fields need irrigation.

Excellent ! Don't tell anyone but I'm a beta tester for the new Pentax high power flash that will make all other brands jealous (if approved for civil use)

Thanks mcgregni ! It was actually the first "authentic" village that we saw on the trip, it was quite a shock (like travelling back in time)

Thanks Todd ! This village was around 3,000m I believe. Higher in the valley there are villages above 4,000m (some pictures soon)

regards,

Dan
