Moonshot, with a difference...
Posted By: nobbsie, 09-26-2008, 06:28 PM

I've noticed that most moonshots are taken at night, well here's one I shot at sunset in March. Not much detail in the moon but I love the colours in the sky. PP was done in Bibble at the time.

Shot with the "poor" Sigma 100-300mm f/4.5-6.7 DL @ 300mm, f/11, ISO200, 1/100s

That is really nice. It is really the rare occasion when you are able to make the same exposure work for the moon and for clouds or foreground landscape.

I like the look, I like the mood. Good job!

Much nicer than the typical night moon shot.

Thanks for the comments guys. Probably one of my favourite shots from the past year

It was definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time, probably one of the few times I've managed to get those two things spot on

Actually, I think you captured a remarkable amount of detail on the moon. As others have said -- great shot!

I'm impressed that the clouds held the colour without blowing out the moon. Well done and nice exposure!
