Spring in Aus.!
Posted By: Bramela, 09-27-2008, 12:21 AM

Spring is in the Aussie air and the flowers are blooming profusely.
Acouple of mine in the last week or so;

CRUCIFIX ORCHID (I think thats the name?)

2, Bee enjoying the Lavendar.

I notice that might be showing a little too much noise. Will fix.

Nice shots. How do you take noise out of an image though?

Thanks all for the positive comments.

Attindra : that, as some have noted is a Lavendar flower. There many varieties of Lavendar and bees love them.

Yes I took out some of the extraneous foliage et c that was rather distracting. . Perhaps I should have blacked out the whole of the background. When it comes to PP I still have SO much to learn. I dont think I'll ever be an expert.

Noise can be minimised using PP. e.g Noise Ninja, Photoshop etc. I actually use Photo Impact from Corel.

## The above comment has reeally got me thinking. When it comes to computers I am a good gardener, or housepainter. A total novice.
Any advice on this calibration technique, what it is and how would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

(Wont be here for a few hours so no response does not mean I wont be in touch if neccessary.)

Bruce, don't get too stressed about colour calibration.
It's all about getting your pictures to look the same on your monitor as it does on other calibrated monitors. Quite important for printing, but if you've been happy with the colours the way they appear now (and you see your lavendar pic a little dull in saturation as others might), then you'll probably be right.

Some advocate buying the colour calibration hardware and calibrating your monitor every 3-6 months to keep your monitor 'tuned' to producing the right colours and brightness. I'm less concerned about it - but each will give you their own slant on the topic...

Thanks Ash, as I say I am not that savvy with computers. Yes, I have been rather pleased, up till now anyway, with my Printer results, so for the moment I feel rather satyisfied with things as they are.

The anomolie pointed out with my photo, would more than likely be my PP skills at fault. I will just keep an eye on things and if some problem becomes clearly evident, I'll pursue it again.
Thanks again, Ash.

The bee shot is great. You don't have to fix it.
