Night Skiing - Interesting bokeh
Posted By: spillway, 02-27-2007, 06:14 AM

There is a state park in Michigan that places lanterns along a cross country ski trail on Saturday nights.
My daughter and I skied there a couple nights ago. Lanterns are placed about100 ft apart, so there is just
enough light to see the trail. At the midpoint, there is a campfire and a warming shelter. There is coffee for the adults and
hot chocolate and marshmallows for the kids. It really is a fun time.

Here is a picture I snapped of a lantern, with the next two lanterns showing. Interesting how one of the lights
has a twig obscuring it. I thought it made an interesting bokeh.

The second picture is a bit blurry, but shows the lanterns lighting the trail (as my daughter skis by).
I included it so that you can get an idea of the scene.

Thanks for looking!

This is at least the third year that they have had the night ski. It seems to get more popular each year.

Hmmm...traditional cross country skiing at night? That's really neat! I like how you captured the atmosphere in the shots.
