The Witches Head
Posted By: Colorado CJ, 01-13-2019, 10:53 AM

I shot this last night. Kinda spooky!

This is the Witches Head Nebula, a dim reflection nebula close to Rigel and the Orion Complex.

There are sure a lot of interesting objects in the night sky. You'd never know they were there if we didn't have long exposure photography.

Nice shot of the sky, but giving it that title, I cannot unsee the face. Love it!

Celestron C-10N....on a dobsonian mount. Just as they call them a light bucket.

I purchased a slew of great optical glass...just like in photography. tele vue, naglers, baader, wide angle and high mag. even got me an APO refractor and high end prisms. Just at night after work for a few hours of star hopping.

For those finding it hard to spot the witch, she is facing right. Great job on this but I wonder why you elected to go with the rosy coloration rather than the reflected blue of Rigel?
