Broken Heart
Posted By: vizjerei, 09-29-2008, 06:45 AM

With AF540FGZ wireless flash feature, lightsphere, a big red cardboard, and K10D’s custom white balance, I created this dramatic picture late last night in the basement. The only post-processing was abit of contrast increase.

PS. If anyone know what's the name of this fruit, please share

The texture is incredible there. Isn't there a seed/fruit inside that would interfere with the light coming through? Regardless, gorgeous shot, very well planned and executed.

Actually, usually it should have fruit inside this shell which look like a cherry tomato, but this one only have a very tiny one. The texture is from the shell itself, what I think is there was a snail eat up along the shell and create the "net" part. The shell itself is in orange-redish color

If anyone know what's the name of this fruit, please share

It is commonly known as a Chinese Lantern (since the paper covering sort of looks/acts like one) or as a Winter Cherry. Scientific name is Physalis alkekengi, more here: Physalis alkekengi

Eating the fruit would probably give you more than a broken heart, however when ripe they are edible if you're feeling peckish in your home studio
