Emerging From The Shadows
Lens: Sigma 70-200 EX DG Macro HSM II Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Granite Bay, CA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F4.5
Posted By: ToddK, 01-13-2019, 09:36 PM

The rose was in full sunlight with a dark shaded background. I underexposed this rose by 1.7 steps to black out the background and not over-expose the rose.

flowers in full sun can be difficult, reds can be difficult, then clearly red flowers in full sun can be doubly difficult, you've done well, cheers

Thanks Cee Cee. At the time I took the photograph I figured it would be experimental and a throw away, but I was pleasantly surprised at the results.

Nice one! It's not easy to get a good result when shooting these rich red subjects!
