Koala drinks in drought
Lens: FFA 100mm Camera: K1 Photo Location: Moree nsw
Posted By: Wild Mark, 01-24-2019, 04:56 AM

The koala usually gets its water need by eating gum leaves. In drought, wild koala’s are known to be hand watered. This koala was found licking the road after a short shower just north of Moree nsw Australia. The small shallow pools of water on the road after rain is all the free water available in this area. It is perhaps one of the reasons there are so many koalas killed by cars. This one was picked up by the local vet after being helped by a concerned local farmer. These locals are hero’s in my eyes.

So scary, given what's happening now.

Yes, so many koalas are in dire straits right now, with many, unfortunately, far beyond that.

This is a very nice image of the koala, out of its usual tree. Thanks.
