Ice fishing huts at dawn
Posted By: bobbotron, 02-02-2019, 01:51 PM

A friend of mine and I went out at dawn to photograph the ice fishing huts nearby. Sadly it was pretty gray and dreary out so no sunrise, but still got some photos to post up.

I like last shot - this is the white balance from in camera, at dawn.

Built for purpose structures but still neat and colourful.

Ha! So in the winter here in Canada, people make these shacks, and drag them out onto frozen lakes. Fish can be caught year round, so many a toasty hour is spent inside them. There's usually a hole in the middle of the floor where a hole is then drilled in the ice so you can get your lines in.

I like the first one, mostly for the colors but also for its clarity.

Number three looks familiar because it reminds me of the shacks used in Wisconsin circa 1960 . Thanks for the memory.

Thanks! I'm quite happy with it as well. It was quite overcast and gray, I tried to bring up the colours etc, which really blanked out the snow.

It's interesting, I went out with a friend, and his photos of the same subject are SO different. So cool how different people can see the same thing in a different light.

Level snow, with no shadows, is hard to render - it is white .... punct.
