Before three days ago, the only Starlings I had seen came in large flocks - and in the summer. Then this guy showed up and took over one side of the feeder for about half an hour. He spent much of that time chasing off sparrows. The moment I took this photo, Emperor Starling was about to chase off the sparrow coming at him from the lower left corner of the photo, while another sparrow gets ready to grab a seed from his other side.
