good shots (especially like the second one, good panning)

but i will have to disagree with the title...

your first shot has flash, so, there goes the low light statement

your second two photos have so much light in them, that you are getting really fast shutter speeds at ISO 200's and Fstops of 32!! and 8!!!

when people say "low light sports shooting", its when you are shooting F2.8 at ISO1600-3200 just to get a shutter speed fast enough to freeze movement, if you're lucky, while trying to focus.

]The first shot, with the flash? That doesn't help AF. Not at all. So...that's not an issue..and my fstop was f8[edit...typo]. The big gripe about Pentax is the AF, especially in low light. IT was almost dark. I think that qualifies. Second, lots of folks complain you can't shoot sports well with Pentax. Two of those photos were published in national magazines. Soooo?

Thanks, though, for the props.

Who really shoots at 1600 to 3200 ISO? Maybe for indy or something, except they have tons of light as well. even with a FF, the noise in a shot like that is gonna' be substantial when it comes to putting it on the cover.

Regardless of what qualifies as "low light" or "action", those are great action shots.

Out of curiosity, what focus (auto, point, or pre focus and single or continous) were you using?

Thanks! All AFC, but the night shot I think I locked the focus just to be sure. I use single point focus almost exclusively, usually selective.

Yes, it is obvious from your lousy photos that "Pentax can't do action or low light...", especially with such a lousy kit lens

But actually very impressive. I bet that in that environment it does not hurt to have a sealed camera either, right? Must be a lot of mud and dust flying around.

Some observations: people making such claims as "Pentax can't do action or low light" appears to systematically forget how people in film days before autofocus still managed to take action shots and shoot in low light. I'm sure that your success here to an important part is not due to your Pentax gear, or not alone to your Pentax gear, but to how you use its strength and avoid its weakness and think ahead of the action in the action scene, predict and plan where you need the focus to be. I cannot help suspect that even if it is clear that fast autofocus is not a high priority of Pentax (except now with the new K-m?), a lot of the people complaining over their bad results are just lacking the necessary skill, and would not have done better with a camera of another brand (I'm saying a lot, not all, so you who believe you have the skill and feel your Pentax fail you, are free to count yourself outside the group I'm talking about). Another observation is that those seriously claiming "Pentax can't do action or low light..." relatively rarely submit pictures to support their statements, and even more rarely submit comparable pictures with that other system they claim would be better. Your photos does not prove that Pentax have the best gear our there for "action or low light", but they sure show you can do very well in those situations with Pentax gear.

Come on, admit it, you faked it all in a warehouse with cables (removed in post process) and green screen. Just like the 1969 Moon Landing. LOL!!!

Great shots, showing no action as they are frozen. You nailed them...good.

WOW, these are amazing shots, congrats. Of course there are those who can't get a good shot of a moving turtle or their 2 yr old kid and blame the camera. Thanks for sharing.

cheers,
