As usual from you, an interesting photo - but, to be honest, I'd like it better if you could have found a similar scene but with fewer/smaller signs.

Don't worry about the signs, these days they mostly tell the truth, in my day in the country we used to turn them round on the crossroads.

The signage is the story of the image, that's why they are lost... the "Playfair Steps are not currently in use".
