Macro Snow crystals

Out hunting snow crystals before breakfast today - I'm glad I did, as I got some really nice hexagonal plates.

This one appears to be a column with five attached plates.

Almost time to start shooting this year's crop. Another month and we should start seeing snow around here. I've built a sturdier version of my snowcatcher for this season, and I also want to try shooting with polarised light which I'm hoping will generate some interesting images …. we'll see.
