I took Exit 114 on Interstate 40 in Southern California and here is fabulous Route 66. They wrote my age on the pavement in my honor, I guess ... lol! Picture was taken with a Pentax K3, DA 12-24 mm f/4 AL lens and a CPL filter.

Terrific composition. I'd like to drive my car down this historic highway.

Yes, although Route 66 was "decommissioned" it was so ingrained into culture that various segments of it have been preserved in one way or another. A couple of years ago, I saw a sign in Chicago marking where the highway began, but I was too busy right then to take a photo, and I don't remember where I saw the sign. You photo is a true tribute to, and good representation of, the highway.

I have traveled on Route 66 in California and Arizona many times. If nostalgia is your thing, I would recommend going sooner rather than later as it continues to disappear bit by bit.

Effectively, in 2017 a bridge collapsed between Amboy and the junction with Exit 114 on I-40 and you can't travel this segment of the road anymore. Sad !

My family made several trips on 66 in the early 1960's . My last time on this section was 2009 .
