This is the chicory plant, who's roots were often used by the early pioneers as a substitute for coffee. It's plentiful here in SW Idaho.

Very nice. The blue really stands out from the earth tones in the BG. There are areas around Eugene where it's plentiful as well.

Thanks for the nice comments. The sun was behind the plant stem and really highlighted the blossom. Scenes like that are hard to pass up.

I grow alot of this in my yard for the greens and hopefully to roast the roots. Love chicory in my coffee. Its a beautiful flower that attracts all kinds of pollinators. You captured it wonderfully here. Nicely done!

Beautiful photo! The blue really pops in contrast to the warmer colors, and the bokeh is outstanding.
