I thought I had seen an American Robin in the area, but he didn't stay around long enough for me to get a good look, so I spread some dried worms on the deck railing and waited. At first, all I got was a male Cardinal - normally that would be a great joy, especially in the snows of mid-winter, but not now. Eventually this one did show up .... at first just on the deck, but eventually he did find the goodies on the railing.

I can give thanks to the sun angle for the catch light, and local topography for the amount of background blur - but I'll take all the credit I can get!

Thank you for disinterring this from last Spring's contributions - as we head towards another Winter it reminds us that it is just prelude to the joys of Spring.
