Hello, darling!
Lens: DFA 150-450 Camera: K3 Photo Location: Canberra, Australia ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F5.6

The way this Crimson Rosella held the piece of tree fern made me think of a 1930's actress holding a cigarette.

This one was a bit more practical.

The second shot is sharper, but the first is cuter.

Thank you! I need to either spend a lot more time using the DFA 150-450 or start working out! I spent a lot of time holding the lens today, and it was a challenge - surprisingly, the Rosella shots were right at the end, and they're pretty steady, although there was more light so the higher shutter speed helps!

Really nice, Rob. Colorful - I just woke up and a beautiful red bird is a good way to start Palm Sunday!

Thanks! I've got to the point where I tend to hold my breath while taking photos without thinking about it. The main issue for me with the combination of the DFA 150-450 and the K3 is the weight and the length of the lens, bearing in mind that the equivalent focal length is 630mm. So I either need to spend a lot more time taking photos with the lens, or work out to improve my upper body strength, or both. But I will read the article in depth when I get the chance. I often take photos at shorter focal lengths with slow shutter speeds, so I've had plenty of practice with hand-held photography. I am seldom in a situation where I can use a tripod.

Thanks Jer! It's great that we have so many colourful birds. Most of the birds in North America are rather drab, I'm sorry to say.
