Nice catch. We had a bald eagle nest in town that just kept getting bigger and bigger each year. This year it took the tree down! Hoping the eagles stay around and build in a new nest.

An older lady who lives across the road from this tree came out of her home when we parked. She said this nest has been there since about 2010 or 2011. The nest was threatened this year as the river/creek below was rechanneled by excavating equipment. Several surrounding trees were cut down. I believe the owner spared this tree, for now.

Bald eagle nests can weigh up to two tons. Pbancr correctly recounts, that a bald eagle's nest can bring down a tree.
