Very nicely put together. I was not aware that these creatures were salt water dwellers. Is this a Heron or an Egret? Thnx so much for posting.

Thanks, Tony, this shot was taken at a local large reservoir in the discharge channel just down from a spillway with a high volume discharge due to heavy rains which caused the foam. The bird, BTW, is a Great Egret and it is technically a variety of Heron. We have Blue Herons, Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets and Great Egrets at the reservoir on any given day.

Thanks, Jerry, the white on white worked out pretty well. This is a Great Egret and is closely related to the Great Blue Heron, family Ardeidae, we have a variety of Heron and Egrets where this shot was taken.

I would probably straighten the horizon but otherwise it looks awesome.

Very nice capture! It is a setting that I would not have expected to see an Egret. However I know they are pretty opportunistic hunters.

Thanks Todd, this is on a spillway channel of a freshwater reservoir there are several hundred Great Egrets here this time of year along with quite a few Great Blue Herons. As a matter of fact just about the moment I walked down to the shoreline a Great Blue Heron was flipping a fish in the air, I really screwed that particular shot up though.
