F-111 at RAAF Amberley Air Show

F-111 at RAAF Amberley Air Show · 12:20 AM

Took the K20D on its first proper outing yesterday to the Air Show at Amberley. As always the F-111 stole the show.

All shot with the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 + Kenko MC7 2xTC @ f/5.6 in TAv mode.

Nice shots. It's a pity the "dump & burn" was not done at dusk or early evening time. It looks so much more impressive when it lights up everything.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It was a really good day, great fun to shoot and also I rare chance to get close to these machines.

I'm hoping they bring an F-111 to Avalon in March, should make for some great shots in the evening. Can't be too many more public displays left now since they're being retired next year.

the F(B)-111 is one of my all time favorite aircraft along with the SR-71.

Well blow me down. I didn't know anyone was still flying Aardvarks. There were always an impressive aircraft and I loved watching them when I was in Turkey. Good to hear/see the RAAF still has some in service and sad to hear they are being retired next year.

Very very nice shots. The dump-and-burn shots are indeed impressive to say the least.

Seems the Sigma's are ruling the Air Show circuit. Did you see my F-22 shots in the Warbirds at NAS Oceana threads? They were all taken with the BIGMA.

Your shots of the F22 are very impressive Mike, well done! I can see the advantage of making two trips to an airshow, those so much on the ground to shoot and so little time to do it if you want to get a good spot for the aerial display. If I do go to Avalon in March I'll definitely be going on both days.
