More Classic Machinery

I've been posting photos I took while at Lakewood Yacht Club's Wheels and Keels concours. Here are pics of two more genuine classics. The first two photos are of a 1957 BMW 507 in marvelous condition. Third pic is of a 1966 Ford GT40 - a gorgeous machine in a gorgeous color.

Another stunning design, the BMW 507 .

I can see the family resemblance to your earlier photograph of the '37 328. I remember first reading about the 507 when I was a teenager in a '60's Road & Track.
Makes me think about how BMW over the years has kept certain traditional cues with their models ...in their products ...both cars and motorcycles. The split grille, the Boxer twin motorcycle engine, OHC inline six cylinder engines...other variety of engines too, but the OHC straight six design has been around a long time for BMW.

Did you have the opportunity to hear the 507's engine running ?

It is a real beauty, Les. And you're right about the persistence of BMW's design; you can draw a pretty straight line from my 2019 M240i back to the 2002.

Alas, I didn't get to hear the engine run.

Thanks much - the Bimmer is a striking vehicle. Some would say the Corvette looks like the Ford GT40.
