The crown
Lens: 16-85mm Camera: K-70 Photo Location: Sevilla, Spain

The crown of the Virgin of Kings (Virgen de los Reyes) is made of 22-carat gold. An enormous pearl formes the torso of one of the four angels encircling the crown. The lustrous pearl is one of the largest in the world.

It is estimated to be more than 40,000 kilos of solid gold in the Seville Cathedral. The gold came of course from the New World, America. The Church got 10% of the cargos of gold and silver.

Nice photos! There is a tremendous amount of intricate details in the crown that you captured.

Beautifully done, Janse. I know that shooting subjects like these can be very difficult.

By the Way, could you send some of that gold back here to the new world? I could use the money!

I would like to do so Jer, but the gold we stole from your continent is ours now! Sorry. :-)

Lots of work by dedicated artisans went into this crown, human capital as valuable as the gold.
