Watching you like a hawk!
Lens: Pentax HD DA55-300 (non-PLM) at 230mm Camera: Pentax K-3 Photo Location: Kielder Birds of Prey Centre, Northumberland, England ISO: 2000 Shutter Speed: 1/160s Aperture: F7.1
Posted By: BigMackCam, 06-14-2019, 03:01 PM

Taken on the same very dull day as my previous posted photo from the same birds of prey centre.

This lady (if I remember correctly) was somewhat easier to capture, as she watched me intently while I talked to her, though she moved her head about an awful lot As a result, I have numerous photos where, having focused accurately on the eye, she turned or tilted her head and when I took my shot, the eye wasn't quite in focus any more. This was one of the better captures in the sequence, and better lit than my previous photo, so I got away with "only" ISO 2000... The HD55-300 non-PLM isn't a fast lens, but I do love it so

Such a beautiful creature... and, like all the other birds there, in outstanding physical condition...

Thanks for looking

Wow - how do you do this, Mike? The bird's eyes just draw you in. Absolutely top notch.

Thanks for your very kind comments, Jer - truly appreciated, sir

Patience and a couple of dozen shots spread out over ten minutes or so, from which five or six were potential keepers, whittled down to just two final candidates
