Whale Watching Along The Oregon Coast.
Lens: Takumar F 70~210mm Lens Camera: Pentax K100d Super Photo Location: Depot Bay, Oregon ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s Aperture: F8

Focal Length 210mm, Manual Exposure Mode, with Multi-Segment Metering.

There are new restrictions now in regards to how close the boat can get to the whales. At a certain distance, the captain must cut the engines because they do disturb the

animals making them quite nervous and will interfere with their migration to their feeding and spawning grounds somewhere off the coast of Southern California. These

massive animals are California Greys and they are very exciting to see up close and personal.

Thanks for viewing.

It looks like a small boat, very much alone on a really large ocean.

Is that Captain Ahab that I see standing in the boat? Oh wait, wrong type of whale...I have been on a few whale watching outings, and unfortunately there are some boats that just get too close.

The California Greys (adults) average 60 feet in length. The boat is larger than it appears and is able to carry 25 passengers. It is quite an exciting and fascinating experience

to see these behemoths or, also known as gentle giants.

Thanks,

TT

At first I believed that figure to be Captain Ahab, but alas, it was only Queee Quaaayy. You are correct, there are those who do not heed the warnings and the consequences

are stiff fines for the captain and the possibility of losing his license to operate.

Thanks very much for contributing.
