Wings of Freedom
Camera: K-1 II
Posted By: wtlwdwgn, 07-09-2019, 11:57 AM

A few shots from the Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom visiting Billings. While I'm editing these the heavens opened up for some serious rain. Glad I went early.

B-24 Liberator. I forgot to switch the shutter speed from jet to prop.

B-17 Flying Fortress. Appropriate shutter speed.

P-40 Warhawk.

B-25 Mitchell.

P-51 Mustang.

I also have some more static images I'll spread around.

Wtlwdwgn , the black and white photos are doing justice to these great and now historic war planes. Imagine being the front gunner on that B - 25 Mitchell ! . Not to many would sign up for that position in this modern world . A testament to the brave men in a time . Great shots by the way.

Thanks! I chose B&W for that period look.

Outstanding series, Steve. B&W is perfect for these shots!

I love the rolling shot of the B17! You might want to level it a bit, but I'm guessing that the tight crop means that there's something at the edge preventing this.

Much better! The distinct fence line is more parallel with the edge of the image.

A lovely set of photos of classic aircraft. The first one is most artistic - it actually looked parked in a field until I saw the nose-wheel off the ground. All excellent captures.

Thanks Rob!

Thanks Arnold. Yep, with the props stopped an airplane can look like it's parked on the ramp. I had to hit myself upside the head when I realized I hadn't slowed the shutter speed.
