You know you've run out of ideas when you photograph a cattail with a 300mm lens.

I'd say you chose a very good subject and did a stellar job with it. Very sharp, colorful, exposure is spot on and the background bokeh is awesome. These are not easy to find and get good results

from and that comes from experience. I would say you really nailed it.

Thanks, Tony, for the kind words. I was out few days ago looking for birds - literally 98F in the shade - and was frustrated by the lack of critters (other than my dependable friend, the Heron). I sort of fired this shot in an act of frustration and defiance. I'm glad you like it.

I agree with Tony. This is a good spur of the moment shot. Nice comp, color and bokeh. The white spidery crap on the leaves are a minor distraction for me but besides that.....nicely done Jer.

I agree with the others, very nice photo! I do the same as you, if I don't find what I started out to shoot, I look for other opportunities. There is much beauty in ordinary things.

Thanks! You know, I didn't notice the white stuff until you mentioned it - shows you that I ain't gettin' any younger.

I appreciate it, Todd. I was in the shooting mood and simply had to photograph . . . . . . . something. I'm glad you like it.
