I recall when reading my local rules of the waterway out here, that I was to always give way to large, approaching ships. Looking at your picture and considering that my boat is 17 1/2 foot Freighter (square stern) canoe with a 4 HP Evinrude..it comes clear to me now, why this is a sensible rule of the waterway.

It might be a stand off, if my wife...a lady of Scottish Highland background was piloting our square stern canoe. I'd be heading for the hills at that point.

That woman has the Lord of the Glens on a leash! My initial response to the vessel itself was "Going my way? No, you misunderstand - you ARE going my way!". Nice shot.
