At Home on the Beach

I was fortunate that this Whimbrel did not mind me getting close and pestering him for photographs. I didn't get quite this close, it is cropped a bit.

Thank Jer. I looked at their range online and it looks like they are pretty much on the east and west coasts of the continental US. They breed way up north in the Arctic, so this one is obviously a non-breeder.

Very pretty photography. I cannot recall seeing these birds anywhere on the Oregon Coast, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Thnx.

Thanks Tony! I read that only the non-breeders hang around on the Oregon coast in summer, so there probably aren't that many around. I am sure glad I stumbled across this one.
