Shots from Wellington Reserve
Posted By: roentarre, 03-02-2007, 12:50 AM

Summer ended in Melbourne here and the weather is still rather warm here. I grabbed the camera and drove around north eastern suburbs for some fun. Managed to capture a few shots here and there.

Gonna work this weekend ... No more fun with k10d ...

Thanks for looking!

Nice shooting, roentarre. I wonder what lens(es) you used?

Cheers!

Indian myena. They are everywhere but their voices are rather pleasant - high pitch rattling like jingle bells.

Asad. Welcome back.

The lenses used were Fa 31, Fa 300/4.5, D FA 100mm f2.8 macro, A* 200mm f4 macro. Funnily they all fit into my Bum bag!!

It was a nice walk, not feeling heavy at all.

Thanks for passing by

Roentarre, I really enjoyed looking through this series. There was one shot there that caught my eye. Fuzzy sorta flower with a really beautiful bokeh. What lens was used for that one?

I was going to say you had a "Mac Attack" (apologies to McDonalds).
Great looking stuff. The detail is exceptional and your use of shallow DOF really empasizes such.

The first one took some study to understand what you were seeing (amorphous blending of soft and hard greens).

Thanks Alvin

The fuzzy flower you referred to was taken by A* 200mm f4 macro and this surely is an amazing lens. It has a really narrow depth of field regardless what aperture is used.

Hi Clarence. ?Mac attack - I am not sure what you meant by that. I would apologise for too many photos crammed in one thread.

I would have to try something else other than shallow DOF

Cheers

Lots of Macro Lense usage, and my attempt at humor. McDonalds Hamburger company had a slogan a while back for their Big Mac hamburger with some nonsense about having a Mac Attack i.e. desperately needing a Big Mac. Probably just a local thing.
Sound of big flop interjected here.

Love the bee in flight shot. How did you manage to capture that? I've tried getting a shot like that myself but I find that my legs tremble at the joints for fear of getting stung

I basicly imagined myself to be part of the ecosystem by standing extremely close to the bee for almost 1 hour. That was a lucky shot as I was using a manual focus lens where I anticipated the arrival of the bee at a certain focal point - 1 out of 100 shots would be at least usable

I sort of figured out that it is sometimes ok to take risk

I did not mean any harm, Clarence. Regardless maybe I should include less photos in one post

Mac attack sounds familiar to me but I could not relate the term to the shots here so I wonder... But now I understand. To my understanding, mac attack as a big meal time

Thank you Jana. You like narrow depth of field as well

You are the first one who claimed to like the 2nd shot. My colleagues think it is too blurred and the image is messy ...

Thank you for a support on that style
