Thanks Gordon! There was another pair who looked like they were trying to occupy a nesting hole, but my photos weren't great because of the poor light. There seems to be at least four that hang around somewhere in the Australian National Botanic Gardens, but as you say, Gang Gangs are quite flighty. They like to take a drink from the artificial waterfall around sunset, but of course that also means that the light is poor.

Nice shots, Rob. I didn't realise they tended to be flighty. I first came across them in the Grampians when I suddenly realised there were two of them feeding in a low growing grevillea about three feet from me! That wasn't around the picnic area, but out on a track.

That was a lucky break! It helps if they're busy feeding, like any bird. And thanks!

You're welcome! They are quite uncommon in general, but there's a healthy number of them in Canberra. Their numbers have suffered due to habitat loss, especially the clearing of old trees with suitable nesting holes.

Very nice shots, Rob. You’re making me want a 150-450, now.

I would be very surprised if anyone ever regretted buying the DFA 150-450. I had been considering buying a Canon body to be able to buy one of the long Sigma lenses, but I got the DFA instead and I'm glad I did. It's lighter than the other combination would have been, and although it's heavy, I can generally shoot with it hand held. I waited until CRK (aka Pentax Australia) had a discount price. Like the DA*300, the DFA 150-450 is able to get results in conditions that the DA 55-300 wouldn't, and the resolution of the DFA lens exceeds that of the K3. It doesn't suffer from the hunting that plagues the DA*300 and the DFA also has focus limiting. I just wish I could take the DFA lens overseas with me, but I haven't got a hard case for it (yet). Most of my recent telephoto images in Australia on Flickr use the DFA 150-450. The overseas ones use the DA 55-300 PLM, which is also a surprisingly good lens.

This pixel resolution image shows that the resolution of the lens exceeds that of the K3.
