Palm springs aerial tramway, california

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes you 6000 feet up Mount San Jacinto Mountain in just 10 minutes. The parking lot (seen on the upper left-side of the image) sits at an altitude of 2200 feet above Sea Level and the Tramway Station is at 8200 feet up the mountain. The machinery was all manufactured in Switzerland and has been upgraded last year (2018). It's a surreal experience to climb the side of the ridge. The cabin holds 80 people at a time and you hear Oh!'s and Ah!'s all the way up and down. A really worthwhile experience.

I've never done it despite living so close, I am a scaredy cat about heights. Nice shot!

The Mount San Jacinto Tramway is part of the California State Park system. It costs about 26 $ to get up there. There is a restaurant and a boardwalk with a tremendous view on Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley down below. On clear days, you can glimpse Mount Charleston, West of Las Vegas, 100 miles away. You can walk on well-maintained paths and even camp there during the summer. The day I visited there, it was like 115 degrees in Palm Springs and only 85 degrees on the mountain. This is a summer haven for the residents of the Valley below, wishing to escape the oppressive heat.
