Yellowstone - Deer and Coyote
Lens: DFA 150-450 Camera: Pentax K-3 Photo Location: Yellowstone

I have a portion of a story here. I came in the middle and didn't see the end.
As I just got in to Yellowstone, I see a deer standing in the river. I pulled over to see what was going on.
Turns out a coyote was chasing the deer and it went in to the river for safety.
What I don't understand is why the deer kept going back to the side of the river the coyote was on. Possibly to get back to the herd?
So, I start with the deer in the water, it goes back to shore, the coyote is still after it, the deer goes back in the water, the coyote comes down to the shoreline after it.
The coyote goes back into the woods. Eventually the deer goes back as well. No idea how the story ends.

Good series. I guess a young deer would be reasonable for a mature coyote to try for. That coyote looks pretty solid. A big cat can take on something four times its body weight. I think for canines it is more like three times the body weight for a lone attacker.

I agree about the electric bikes in parks. Maybe access to some paths for the less able, but not unrestricted. It will all be good fun until someone cannons into grizzly at 28mph. Don't say you would like to be there to catch it on camera!
