Veteran's Memorial

Veteran's memorials have become endemic in the USA. This one is in Dubuque. There are several of these commemorating every war. I could post more if you are interested, or you could go to my flickr page, and view a few other photos of this memorial. It does convey basic information about sacrifice that is historically relevant.

A very nice photograph. Also, a very nice effort on your part bringing to mind those who served not only to free us, but to keep us free. Many thanks for sharing.

We are building a lot of veterans' memorials in Iowa of late. Other than the traditional memorials outside the state capitol, this Dubuque memorial is the most impressive I have seen in Iowa. I was running short on camera card space, and I was here for a completely different purpose - to support my daughter's half-marathon exploit. There is a pillar with these stats for every war, plus "the war on terror." And there is a very large granite display with an etched mural. And the park benches of which you see one in the background.

I grew up in Dubuque. It is a scenic town.
