Lookout

Last Spring, I noticed that the mourning doves were often first to the feeder once I had put food in. This remained a mystery until one time when I noticed this guy high above the feeder - apparently they were taking turns watching, and then telling the others once food was available.

Funny how that works, my birds do the same thing. Nice shot.

Nice shot! I don't know about where you are, but I have about a dozen under my feeder as I write this. They are flocking more now in the fall.

Nice image, RE! Birds are pretty smart like that. We have a flock of about six crows who have lookouts and send the call out as soon as they see me in the back yard in the morning. I throw out stale bread for them and they swoop in and snatch it and fly off everyday in the morning. They also do a single bird flyover in the late afternoon to check for food.
