I think I would like it better if the artist had used "PP" to make the face lighter - to give us a better view of the face - but that may be just me, I would never tell an artist how s/he should interpret a view.

I'm not the OP, but lightening only the face would look artificial. Lightening the entire photo might look natural but would drastically alter the backlit style of this photo.
