Takin' it to the streets - Part 5: Harlem
Posted By: maxwell1295, 10-15-2008, 11:16 AM

This is something that I had been planning to do for a while, but never found the time to do.....strolling through the streets of Harlem, the place where I grew up. It was a quick stroll since I was in a rush. In fact, it always seems like I'm in a rush whenever I go into the city.

Anyway, onto the pics!

125th Street - The main street in Harlem, loaded with hustle & bustle, people, street vendors, and shops

125th Street is also the home of the world-famous Apollo Theater..

I purposely saved these 2 photos for last. Here are a couple of pics of the buildings I grew up in. They're located at the north-east corner of Central Park (can you guess what Part 6 covers?)

FYI, the tall tower on the right is 1295 Fifth Avenue (hint, hint)

Awsome shots Alan!

Thanks for the tour.

I really like #'s 2, 10, and 14.

Not only do I love the B/W with lots of grain, but I like the compositions with people.

Sitting here at work, now I just want to get out and photograph the life happening in my neck of the woods.

Eric.

Excellent series Alan. Love the brownstone shots particularly the first one. Great to take a tour of the area with you. The street vendor shots are great as well.

Wow, Alan - really super. The grainy shot of the Lenox Lounge really hits me - ought to be on the cover of a great jazz album - maybe an organ trio (drums, B-3 and tenor sax).

Wonderful job.

ok claiming ignorance here but i need to know what the hint is in refrence to? I googled the address and came up with a story about a fire in the building and another about refrences to multiple duel buildings in New York i.e. the Twin Towers and these two buildings but the hint is making me curious
