Yes, tongue out at the photog. I have one with the tongue hanging out the side of the mouth.

It actually wasn't a that difficult. The deer are quite used to humans because it's a popular tourist spot. They're still skiddish and easily spooked but they're used to being around humans. It's also on a decently populated barrier island so they're kind of stuck in a way. And I was also walking on a raised boardwalk that leads to a lighthouse.
